Baso Immersion Oil for Diagnostic Applications

Baso Immersion Oil is based on the formulation recommended by the WHO for the following reasons: moderate viscosity, clear background, long lasting (will not dry out and stiffen easily), and it will not decolorize stained bacteria. In contrast, the cedarwood and other common immersion oils can decolorize stains by dissolving certain dyes. They are also prone to drying out and coagulating, which will affect stain results and damage oil immersion lens after long-term use and affect results. Hence, cedarwood and other common immersion oils have been avoided by most users.
